SUMMARY:Remember January 6th and Take Action
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, Jan 6th from 2:50pm – 7:45pm\nOn the Mall near the US Capitol\n\nJoin HRI in holding our lighted letters to remember the day where violent demonstrators and treasonous parties attempted to overthrow the vote of the people by interrupting the declaration of the lawful vote which precedes a peaceful transfer power as called for in our Constitution. \nSIgn-Up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e4cafaf28a5ff2-remember \nAs many more states move to enact restrictive voting legislation\, we must remember the activities that took place on January 6\, 2021 and call for action that will prevent such hinderances from becoming the law of the land. \nThe organizers have set the agenda as follows:\nDate: January 6\, 2022\nTime: HRI in place no later than 4:30 pm\nRally begins at 4:45 pm and is expected to end at 7:45 pm\nPlace: The Mall\, with the Capitol in the background – between the museums\, specifically 3rd Street between Madison Dr NW and Jefferson Dr SW. \nWe expect to be in place for 3 hours. It would be great if we could have two teams of letter-holders\, so that folks won’t have to hold our letters on sticks for more than 1 to 1.5 hours. Even a few extras will allow breaks to be given to everybody on a rotating basis. \nMeet up info: We will meet at 2:45 pm at the Wiehle Reston Metro Station. We will ride metro to the Federal Center Southwest station or change to the Red Metro and exit at the Archives station and then walk to the rally point at the Mall\, and hold our letters through the rally from 4:45 – 7:45 pm. Then we will return to Reston via Metro. \nCome rain or shine!!! \nWe request that all volunteers be vaccinated and observe appropriate public health precautions.  Facemasks are required on Metro\, and are advised even when outside if you are in a large group of people. Please wear an HRI neon yellow protest shirt\, hat\, or scarf if possible\, and bring water and a snack. \nThose who sign up will be guaranteed to hold a letter; others may rotate in\, as needed. You’re encouraged to bring like-minded friends and family to join the rally! \nLeader: Ginny Reed
