DESCRIPTION:UUCF organizes monthly donations for area food banks and non-profits to support their work fighting food insecurity in Fairfax County during the pandemic. \nFor the Jul. 12 drive\, we will collect food for La ColectiVA\, which is supporting approximately 180+ undocumented and mixed-status families and individuals experiencing significant difficulty during COVID-19. In addition to being at higher risk of contracting the virus\, many individuals and families have a limited support network and are excluded from many existing relief efforts. Food drives require no contact and all volunteers wear masks and follow guidelines for physical distancing. \nFuture food drives will be held on the second Sunday of the summer months: Aug. 9. \nIn addition\, we’ll be accepting school supplies for Beacon House. Needed items include: backpacks\, 3×5 ruled index cards\, pencil pouches\, composition notebooks\, folders with pockets\, spiral notebooks\, block erasers\, plastic rulers\, crayons\, ballpoint pens\, loose-leaf paper (both college- and wide-rule)\, glue sticks and bottles of glue\, blunt-tip scissors\, washable markers\, 1-inch 3-ring binders. No sign-ups necessary to donate school supplies.
